2020 Girls Spring Lacrosse

The Registration for the 2020 Girls Lacrosse Season is underway.  The Perkiomen Valley Youth Girls Lacrosse Program is a recreational program.  We participate in the Tri-County Division of PAGLA(Philadelphia Area Girls Lacrosse Association).  Below are some of the key dates for this upcoming season.

- Registration will close on February 1st, 2020.  If teams are full no registrations will be allowed after this date.  If there is room on a team, a late fee of $25 will be charged for any registrations accepted after February 1st
- Registration for Futures - Grades 1 and 2 will close on February 28th with no late fees assessed until after that date.
- Practices will start the week of February 24th, hopefully outdoors, but if not at an inside facility to be determined.
- Players should hear from their coach no later than February 20th.  If you do not hear from a coach by then, please email [email protected]  Any inquiries about team assignments prior to Feb 20th will not be responded to.
- Games will start in late March/early April.  The schedule is released in mid-march and coaches will notify players of their schedule at that time.
- Weather plays a large roll in the start of the season.  Often times the fields are closed due to wet conditions by the school district and we have no recourse but to not use them.  There are times it may look great out your window but if the school closes the fields, then there are no practices or games.  There are no exceptions to this rule.

Due to the increasing volume of players in the league play with requests, carpool requests and coaching requests will not be honored this season.  While we understand that it is difficult, the volume of requests has made selecting teams a very difficult task.  The good news is that there are usually only 2-3 teams in each division and we hope that after the teams have been selected carpooling will be made much easier.

There are 3 divisions of play this season:

Girls 1st and 2nd grade is our futures division.  This is a clinic type program where girls will be taught the fundamentals of the game on Saturday mornings at a time to be determined.  As part of that learning process, the girls will play 1 play day type event.  There they will play 3 games vs other programs in a game environment but with coaches on the field to offer instruction.  These events are a lot of fun for the girls.

The other divisions are 3rd and 4th grade and 5th and 6th grade.  The majority of games in these divisions are on Saturdays with a few being played on Sundays.  These divisions usually participate in 2 play day type events as well, in addition to playing a regular PAGLA league schedule.  Most games are located withing 1/2 hour of Perk Valley.

Also, we are always looking for volunteers to be head coaches or assistants. Girls lacrosse is a relatively new sport and we understand that not a lot of parents have experience with it.  But thats ok, some of our best coaches have been new to the sport.  Because it is so new, most parents are in the same boat. PAGLA runs a clinic at the beginning of the season that is great in helping new coaches learn the game.

Thanks and we look forward to seeing you all on the fields this spring!!

Registration closes on 02/28/2020 at 11:45 PM
Season Dates: 03/05/2020 to 06/03/2020
