Perkiomen Valley Youth Basketball

Community Relations

Perkiomen Valley Youth Basketball (PVYB) is committed to community involvement. We promote these values not only in our basketball, field hockey, lacrosse, and volleyball programs, but also by our active support for individuals, organizations and causes that serve the public interest and well-being.

PVYB is a not for profit community based youth sports organization, that teaches sport's skills to all of the youth in our community regardless of race, gender, religion or economic background.  While we stress the development of the individual, we are strongly committed to teaching leadership skills and teamwork and building social and moral values.

Some of the items we gave back to our local PV community:

John Streeper Memorial Basketball Tournament
where we provide most of the proceeds to needy families in the school district.
We donate to
first responders breakfast in the area to include all of PV and some on the boarders (Fire, ambulance personal, and police)
We give holiday coupons / gift cards to the school district to give to the needy.
We buy personal items and food items for the Collegeville Food Shelter.
We give to the homeless shelter in Phoenixville.
We give to surrounding charities and golf outing to help people in the community and surrounding areas.
We also give money to PV boosters in most of the PVSD sports programs (the boosters then are able to buy items or other things for the school teams)

Some of the things PVYB did for the community over the years:

2011-2019:   Donated over $10,000 to needy families in the PVSD
Donated to the local food bank
Donated to the PVSD needy family holiday drive
   Scholarships to PV graduating students
Grocery Gift Cards to needy local families within our community

Collegeville, PA  Three local fitness centers, one church youth group, and one Perkiomen Valley sports organization joined forces this holiday season to graciously provide over 47 families in the Perkiomen Valley School District a joyous Christmas morning.

It all started when Mrs. Kristen Natoli, Owner of the Curves Fitness Center in Zieglerville, called the School/Community Relations Coordinator for the Perkiomen Valley School Districthoping to adopt “a” family for the holidays.  The same week, Mrs. Jodi Hoffman, representing the Body Transit fitness center in Collegeville, called wanting to do the same.  It just snowballed from there!  An e-mail arrived from Mrs. Gayle Neborak, one of the leaders of the Augustus Lutheran Church Senior Youth Group, saying that as a holiday service project the Senior Youth Group had sold wreaths and wanted to donate their collected profit to a local family.

Upon calculations of the many families that were in need, Mrs. Lynn Fleisher, Owner of the Curves in Collegeville, decided to join the quest and participate as well.  And, last but definitely not least, Mr. Steve Boyd, President and Mr. Ed Marcavage, Vice President of the Perkiomen Valley Youth Basketball organization joined to put the icing on the cake by donating twenty, fifty dollar Giant grocery gift cards to disperse to the different families in need.
